Anna had her first eye exam today, which showed that she has immature eyes. They will continue to check her eyes each week. They are watching for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)...it can lead to blindness and other very serious vision problems. It occurs when the blood vessels in the retina grow abnormally. Laser surgery will be recommended for Anna if this was to occur.
This week Anna has had a lot of apnea spells (she forgets to breathe). Please pray that the doctors would have wisdom in how to help her best in this area. This is common for premature infants, it's just that Anna's have increased a lot over the last few days.
