Still Here

Thank you for your prayers! Anna Joy has had a long week. . . Today the doctors removed her IV to assess her true willingness and ability to eat enough on her own. After weighing 13 lbs 7 ounces a couple weeks ago, Anna weighed an even 13 lbs when she was admitted on Monday, and now she's down to 12 lbs 9 ounces, which has been because she still didn't eat much of anything Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Today, though, she is taking a step in the right direction. As of 3pm, her intake already matches her full-day intakes from earlier in the week. More than that, she just seems more agreeable to the act of eating, so we hope this continues! The theory is that she has a yeast related fungus on her esophagus and potentially in her intestines, so that is what she is being treated for. Hopefully after another day on the medicine (day 4 of a planned 14 days) she will keep taking in more and more. The tentative plan is that she would be discharged tomorrow, and while we really want to get out of here logisitcally, it seems a bit fast, as we want to see Anna do here what she needs to do on her own to not get herself right back in this same situation a week from now. Please pray she can get all she needs on her own, and that she can get back to growing!!
